Paulo Tormenta Pinto (Lisbon, 1970), began his teaching activity in 1997, and is currently a Full Professor at ISCTE, in the area of Architecture. His doctoral thesis “Arquitetura e Artifício – Cassiano Branco 1897-1970” was published in 3 editions (Caleidoscópio 2007, 2015 and 2020). As a researcher, he has participated and coordinated several projects related to architectural culture, highlighting, as a responsible researcher, the projects “The Critical Monumentality of Álvaro Siza” and “The Grand Projects - Architectural and urbanistic operations after the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition” , both funded by the FCT. He held several positions in the academic structure of ISCTE, namely as director of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism and of the Research Center on Socio-Economic Change and Territory – (Dinamia’CET-ISCTE). He was the godfather of the Doctor Honoris Causa title, given by ISCTE to Nuno Portas , in 2020. His work as an architect has been published and awarded several times (IHRU Award 2002, IHRU Award 2012, and the Teotónio Pereira Award 2016 - honorable mention). In 2022 his work was nominated for the Mies Van Der Rohe Awardand was a finalist in the FAD Awards. Also in 2022 he received the National Architecture Award-FORMA 2022, attributed to the project “Accessible Path to the Estrela Basilica”, in Lisbon.
